The 14K gold lobster clasp ensures that thsoe with sensitive skin won't be affected by the gold-plating of the Spear.  Funcitionally, the Spear can attach to the earpost of any earring stud providing adornment behind the ear, or simply slip the Spear from any hoop for an easy upgrade.
